The board is generated from the UTC date, so it is identical for players on a phone, desktop browser, or installed PWA. It is not a random reroll each time you refresh. The numbered clues, fabric shapes, and correct solution stay put for the whole day.
Your completion time and whether you used a hint are stored in your browser. If the anonymous leaderboard is available, your best time can also appear in the table for that date. No registration or email address is required.

Draw one rectangular patch around each numbered clue. The number is the exact area of that rectangle: a 6 may be a 1×6 strip, a 2×3 block, or a 3×2 block. Every playable cell must be covered, and an ordinary cell cannot belong to two patches.
Daily boards come from the harder part of the generator, so they are intended to need deduction rather than a few obvious taps. Depending on the date, you may meet square-only numbers, directional arrows, hidden clues, coffee stains, linked shapes, fixed fabric, or cells that need two crossing layers. The rules and symbols guide explains each one without giving away today’s answer.
A daily puzzle, but not a daily limit
Some people search for an unlimited Patches game because one small puzzle is not enough. Daily Brew is the shared ritual, not a lock on the rest of the game. Patches.cafe also includes a 1,000-level campaign, a timed Espresso Blitz mode, Perfectionist boards, and a level editor for making your own puzzles.

It adds longer progression, later mechanics, offline play, and community-made boards rather than trying to replace the original daily in exactly the same cup.
Can the daily puzzle work offline?
Yes. Install Patches.cafe as a progressive web app while you have a connection, then the game shell, puzzle generator, artwork, and music remain available offline. Because the board is derived from the date on your device, a new Daily Brew can still be generated without downloading a level file.
Your result waits locally while you are offline. The public ranking naturally needs a connection, but the puzzle, streak, campaign, and achievements do not. If you use the optional private sync code, reconnect before expecting a result to appear on another device.
